This hexagon top is going very slowly. So slowly, in fact, that I'm afraid it's going to become a UFO.
In an effort to mix it up a little, I pulled out my "Not So Plain Spoken" top and laid it out to measure for the backing. But I didn't make much progress there either, as you can see.
Interesting article for all of you who are into Pintrest. I'd include a quote from her original blog post, but that's copyright infringement, so you'll just have to go read it yourself.
I am still singing "Honeycomb" all day and night.
The web design class I'm taking just made the turn this weekend from "isn't HTML fun?" to "how the hell am I ever going to wrap my head around this?" Shades of junior year Programming 101, which I dropped at the last minute because -- wait for it -- I couldn't wrap my head around it.
I happened to be at Jacquie's the day her preview copy of "Quilting Modern" arrived. Gotta tell you, this book is gorgeous (and at 176 pages, surprisingly heavy!), filled
with beautiful photographs and stunning quilts. It even smelled good in that new-book-fresh-ink kind of way. I had it on pre-order
even before I saw it in person, and I can hardly wait to get my
copy!
Happy Monday, and happy quilting!

I think people are freaking out about the Pinterest thing because they are finally noticing what has been out there all along. Or perhaps because it is getting easier and easier for the everyday Joe to snipe your stuff.
It's kind of like poster-beware, and people are just now becoming aware.
(side note: The problem that I think Jacquie and others have had with Pinterest is really a totally different topic, I believe.)
I left a comment over at the article:
The thing is that people don't read this info for any online site they use. If you check out Yahoo - so that would include anything on Flickr.....read FB's policy....Google - if you post it, they own it. It's pretty much the only way they can function, transmitting all the images and data all over the web, in the normal course of operation.
The question really is - is what they are doing malicious? And do you trust them now and for the future. For example, we also use SmugMug to host photos my husband takes. Their agreement is pretty much the same, although they try to alleviate some user worry that they will run off with your stuff:
You retain the copyright in any User Content you post on the Site. SmugMug neither has nor wants any ownership of your Content. However, by uploading and/or posting any User Content to the Site, you grant SmugMug a perpetual, nonexclusive and royalty-free right to use the User Content and the name that is submitted in connection with such User Content, as is reasonably necessary to display the User Content, provide the Services and to facilitate, at Content Owner's direction, the license of Photos or the sale of Products on the Site.
There have been so many posts really digging into the nitty gritty on Pinterest. It's good to read others' views of it. I don't use it but a LOT of my photos have been pinned and no one has asked for my permission. It has made the Chicago news on 2 channels at 10 p.m. so far reporting the fun everyone is having with it.
Now on to some fun stuff, love that kitty that has to be so much fun to live with!!!!
Maybe I'm weird, but I'm honored any time someone thinks one of my pictures is worth pinning!!
Love the kitty's new playground!
Archie is so cute "playing" with the quilt top!
All this stuff about Pinterest has been interesting. I'm not sure why people are so upset. You put your stuff out on the internet on your blog, and it's available to everyone unless you make your blog private. I use Pinterest, and I've had my stuff pinned. I haven't made up my mind about all this yet, but its interesting to read what everyone is saying.
My big problem with Pinterest is that it's a giant time-sucker! Two hours go by in a flash!
Thanks for the info on Jacquie's book!
