I think I was just tired of SQUARES. Also encouraged by the prospect of participating in an improvisational quiltalong (no pressure, AmandaJean!).
Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet. Needless to say, I never finished straightening up.

Oooh I get in this kind of trouble too. Loved looking at all your quilts!
Cute patches! I can see the designer in you!
When I saw these blocks, the first thing I thought of was Jan Mullen designs when I saw it! I have made 2 butterfly quilts using her "pattern" techniques and it was the most fun ever. I NEVER make a quilt more than once but this is not like making the same block over and over it is all new and fun for each block.
I loved your "I wish I could quilt like.." section too. It introduced me to 2 quilters I was not familiar with: Denyse Smith and Ruth McDowell. WOW!! I want to go to MA now and study design with Ruth! This was a lot of inspiration :)
Thanks! I love Jan Mullen's "patterns," just haven't gotten to make one in a while, so these blocks were a good escape. Welcome to Quilting Bloggers!
I love that last quilt block an awful lot! that is similar to something that I've had in my head for months, I just haven't gotten around to making it yet.
